Job summary
This is a new opportunity for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with knowledge and skills in Social Communication, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, to take a lead in our Paediatric SLT team.
The post holder will work with children and young people from 0-16 years old as part of the wider SLT service in SBUHB.
You will operationally lead and manage the service for children and young people who need highly specialist assessment, including differential diagnosis, and therapy.
Main duties of the job
You will co-ordinate the implementation of the All Wales Social Communication pathway from preschool to Key Stage 3; to agree a robust provision in partnership with families and multiagency colleagues through a clear universal, targeted and specialist offer in accordance with ALNET (Wales) 2018.
As part of a MDT, you will provide highly specialist assessment of speech, language and communication to inform a differential diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder in children under the age of five.
This will mean solo and joint clinics, as well as specialist assessments and ADOS procedures. You will also have professional contact with the Neurodevelopmental Disorders (ND) team for SBUHB.

- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree or equivalent
- Registered member of HCPC / RCSLT
- Wide range of specialist post-graduate training and experience equivalent to Master's level
- Relevant postgraduate experience and/or qualification in differential diagnostic assessment, including Developmental Language Disorder and ASD.
Desirable
- Courses in standardised ASD assessment tools for parental interview (3di, ADI-R, DISCO) and/or semi structured observation, e.g. BOSA, ADOS
