Job summary
The Counselling Psychology Service provides consultation, psychological assessment/intervention to secondary care to patients who have PTS symptomatology in relation to their physical healthdiagnosis. Post qualification experience and training in evidence based psychological interventions for trauma is essential. The post is part of a friendly and supportive team. The applicant will be well supported with training and supervision opportunities and regular PADR's to support their development , opportunities to participate in research, service development and other project work across MH services
Psychologists will have close links with local clinical/counselling doctoral courses and offer placements. This service is under the leadership of the lead for Psychological Therapies with managerial/supervision support from the Principal Psychologist.
An additional day has been secured to provide psychology to Traumatic Stress Wales under the leadership of the consultant lead for SB UHB. This will involve; Consultation for trauma across the wider Health Board ; Supervision of evidence based trauma focussed therapies and supporting the TSW lead. There are also opportunities to link with wider psychology colleagues across the Health Board who work in MH, LPMHSS and Health psychology.

Main duties of the job
Job Summary/Job Purpose:
To provide a specialised psychology service to clients of the sector, providing specialised psychological assessment and intervention for patients under the care of a medical consultant
To work autonomously in accordance with the Professional Practice Guidelines of the The British Psychological Society 2017, and Health and Care Professions Council.
Within the team, to exercise delegated responsibility for the management and supervision of, more junior psychologists, assistant psychologists and the workload of trainees, within the framework of the team/service policies and procedures.
To contribute to the development of local team policies and procedures in order to facilitate improvement in service quality.
To advise service and professional management on aspects of the service related to the team where psychological and/or organisational matters need addressing.
To provide professional and clinical supervision for designated staff, as appropriate.
To provide clinical placements and supervision for Doctoral level trainee psychologists and to deliver training to other professionals.
To utilise specialised research skills for audit, policy and service development, and research.
To act as a panel member in the recruitment of designated staff, as appropriate.
