Job summary
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 7 Occupational Therapy post working as part of the Pathfinder Early Years Project funding, from Welsh Government to our Local Authorities in Neath Port Talbot (NPT) and Swansea. You will work in close alignment with the Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team in Swansea Bay UHB who will provide governance and support.
The post will provide accessible support and training for all early years' provisions (Local Authority, Flying Start & Independent) on sensory motor co-ordination, sensory processing, play, child development and other identified areas of need. The role will facilitate access to regular advice/consultation clinics for all teaching staff, embedding universal and targeted provision into all preschool settings. Opportunity will be given to provide therapy input in identified provisions that require extra support for targeted intervention and help to identify/support children that have been impacted by COVID pandemic. A person centred and goal directed approach will be taken.
The post will be based within Local Education Authorities NPT and Swansea but wil work across education, childcare provisions and children's homes and in the community. There will be an element of virtual delivery therefore a combination of home working can be supported.
This post is fixed term until March 2024 due to Welsh Government grant monies.
Main duties of the job

To Senior Occupational Therapist within the Pathfinder will:
Provide accessible support and training for all early years' provisions (LA & FS & Independent) on sensory motor co-ordination, sensory processing, play and other identified areas of need
Facilitate access to regular advice/consultation clinics for all teaching staff.
To provide therapy input in identified provisions that require extra support for targeted intervention.
Working with identified Children and their families via person centred and goal directed approach.
Support multi-agency and multi-disciplinary early intervention support.
Identify sustainable support networks for families.
Upskill nursery provisions and staff on all aspects of child development
Support any environmental changes to enable improved developmental engagements within provisions
Embed universal and a targeted provision into all preschool provisions
To improve school readiness including sensory motor co-ordination, play skills, activities of daily living (ADL's), improved attention and behaviour.
Identify and support children that have been impacted by COVID pandemic
Delegate and supervise work to the Occupational Therapy Technician
