Consultant Medical Oncologist with an interest in melanoma, breast and research

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a medical oncologist with an academic interest to join the melanoma and breast team and enable the delivery of excellent oncological care within and outside of clinical trials. The post-holder will be responsible for the delivery SACT for melanoma and breast cancer and building on a 20 year legacy of running practice-changing melanoma trials.

Inexpensive properties including Mumbles, making it into The Times coolest postcodes to move to in 2022, good schools and proximity to areas of outstanding natural beauty such as the Gower Peninsula and the Brecon Beacons National Park add to the attractive of living in South West Wales - while London is still only 3 hrs away by train.

Main duties of the job

Swansea University Health Board and Swansea University is seeking to appoint to a brand new post a 10 session Consultant Medical Oncologist in melanoma and breast cancer with a commitment to high quality patient care, high level research, innovative service models, delivery of performance targets and excellence in education/training. The post-holder will be responsible for the delivery SACT for melanoma and breast cancer and building and expanding a trials portfolio in these areas.

The new consultant will be joining a friendly and forward thinking consultant team of clinical and medical oncologists who are committed to delivering highest standards of cancer care, alongside a large team of other clinical and non-clinical professionals.

There will be the opportunity to develop links with Swansea University and an honorary contract issued, with the level discussed at interview/after appointment. Candidates with existing research interests are encouraged to apply.
