Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to join our Children and Young People's Nutrition and Dietetic service. You should have knowledge and experience of working with children, young people and families. A keen interest in eating disorders speciality is essential along with the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This a permanent position working 18.75 hours per week, providing a service across the Swansea and Neath Port Talbot Localities.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 paediatric dietitian or is suitable for an experienced band 6 to undertake as a progression developmental pathway from band 6 to 7 (once specified competencies have been completed).
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be supported to develop their band 7 competencies and will work alongside the CAMHS service to support a complex caseload of paediatric eating disorders clients. The position provides the opportunity to work with our dietetic colleagues in adult services to support clients and families through transition from paediatric to adult services. As the band 7 lead for the Paediatric Dietetic Eating disorders service you will work with high levels of autonomy.
You will be responsible for the dietetic care for conditions such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorders. The role will also require you to provide expert advice to colleagues within the speciality.
Strong communication skills are essential to the role, with close working with clients, families and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
You will be expected to supervise and mentor student dietitians. We are approved for 1, 2 and 3 student placements.
We offer both departmental and personal CPD time to support your development and are committed to the development of evidenced based practice, research and clinical audit. You will be supported in attending relevant professional networking meetings, interest groups and relevant CPD opportunities.
We have good support from administrative and Dietetic Assistants. The Health Board has University status with Colleges of Medicine on site.
