Senior Clinical Fellows in Medicine - Registrar grade
We are pleased to be offer Senior Clinical Fellow posts in Medicine at Registrar level which will provide training and experience in general medicine and the medical subspecialty of your choice.
Morriston Hospital:
Morriston Hospital is a regional centre with approximately 800 beds. It is the Regional Cardiothoracic Centre and houses the Welsh National Burns & Plastics Unit. There are departments of Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Paediatrics and Maxillofacial Surgery. It has the major A & E Centre for the region.
Singleton Hospital:
Singleton Hospital is a district general hospital with a busy general medical on call service with a variety of medical sub-specialties. It also hosts the regional oncology and Haematology units and provides an excellent work and training experience.
The posts will be based in either Morriston or Singleton Hospital, Swansea for 1 year in the first instance. The senior clinical fellows will take part in the medical registrar on call rota and have similar responsibilities for the care of inpatients. Senior clinical fellows will be able to gain experience in one of the medical specialties listed below:
Acute Medicine, Respiratory, Elderly Care, Gastro
Main duties of the job
- To lead ward rounds
- Participate in the medical on-call rota at Registrar grade
- To undertake appropriate training and participate in CPD
- Participate in training junior doctors
- Undertaking ward referrals and participate in clinics
- Develop portfolio and skills of specialty registrar

Swansea Bay University Health Board is one of the largest health providers in the UK. Morriston Hospital is undergoing a process of Acute Medical Services Redesign with all acute medical service centred in Morriston, and a new 40 bedded Acute Medical Unit will be opening in the Autumn.

- Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practise
- MRCP or equivalent
- Valid Certified Basic Life Support Skills (or equivalent international qualification)
- Evidence of proficiency in English
Clinical Experience
Essential
- -At least 2 years full-time postgraduate training (or part-time equivalent) in General Internal Medicine
- -Knowledge and participation in CPD
- -Clinical skills required of a middle grade doctor
- -Experience of dealing with unselected medical emergency admissions
- -Able to apply knowledge
- -Safe and effective written and verbal communication skills
- -Meet the requirement of the GMC's "Good Medical Practice"

- -Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent)
