Applications are invited for a full time Locum Consultant post in Community Child Health (10 sessions.) This is a 12 month post commencing as soon as possible and is based in the Childrens Centre, Hafan Y Mor, Singleton Hospital, Swansea. We are looking for an ambitious Paediatric Consultant to join one of the largest providers of integrated health care in the UK.

Main duties of the job
Community Paediatricians work closely with the Education authorities across the Health Board to implement the new ALN Act, the multidisciplinary, multi-agency children's disability services to provide help for children with special needs and their families. There are established referral pathways for neurodevelopmental assessments, neurodisability, care of children in need and audiology services. Safeguarding is an essential part of the workload.
About us
The Community Paediatric Services cover the Unitary Authorities of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. The area is mainly urban with rural communities to the west and north of the coastal strip. The child population covered in Swansea is approximately 522,000 (0-18 years). There are pockets of significant deprivation in several of the inner city wards with a Jarman Index of 5.57 for Swansea and 3.47 for Neath Port Talbot.
Community Paediatric services are delivered from 2 Child Development Centres (CDC): Hafan-Y-Mor CDC is located in Singleton Hospital, Swansea and Neath Port Talbot Children's Centre is in the grounds of Neath Port Talbot Hospital. These are the bases for the Community Paediatricians as well as the wider multi-disciplinary team members. They form vital hubs for wider multi-agency working with colleagues from Education, Social services and third sector organizations.

- Full GMC Registration and License to Practice
- MRCP, MRCPCH by examination or equivalent
- On the GMC Specialist Register (including via CESR/European Community Rights) or will have a CCT/CESR(CP) date within 6 months of interview. While the law does not require a CCT in CCH, the CSAC recommends that all consultant posts should require it, as this shows the applicant is fully trained for independent practice in CCH. If they do not have a CCT in CCH, the applicant must be able to show how they have acquired the Level 3 CCH competencies
