Job summary
The post holder will carry out their clinical work across a range of community & inpatient settings, including staffed settings & family homes, acute admission units and specialist residential services, working directly with service users who display severe challenging behaviour. They will be managed by Psychology from within the Specialist Behaviour Team in SBUHB for CPD, support and supervision. They will carry an individual caseload and be able to work autonomously. They will conduct assessments and observations, construct positive behavioural support plans, and implement and evaluate these plans for service users within these settings. They will support the staff teams and work as part of the MDT for service users on their caseload in order to aid the management of behaviours that challenge and improve quality of life.
We are seeking to recruit two Behaviour Specialist who have a passion for working with individuals with a learning disability who present with Behaviour that challenges to join our friendly and supportive team based in Bridgend in South Wales. These are full time Band 7 permanent posts.
Main duties of the job
The Specialist Behaviour Team (SBT) is part of Adult Learning Disability Services within Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB) and provides enhanced Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) input to service users with a Learning Disability and significant behaviours/risks that challenge. The SBT is a tertiary level service and works alongside professionals in Community Learning Disability teams to enhance service user support and contribute to multi-disciplinary decision-making and risk management. The SBT operates a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Model and supports service users across the SBUHB learning disability footprint i.e. Cardiff and Vale, RCT and Merthyr, Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot and Swansea. The team has two bases, one in Bridgend and one in Swansea with members of the team split across the two bases. This current post would be based in Bridgend but post holders may be required to work across the health board footprint. The team comprises of three Clinical Psychologists, Seven Behaviour Specialists who all have a professional registration and six Assistant Behaviour specialists and is Clinical Psychology led and managed with support from a service Business Manager.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
