Job summary

Applications are invited for two Deputy Medical Director posts in Swansea Bay University Health Board.

This is an exciting opportunity for established clinical leaders and for aspiring Medical Directors to gain significant experience at Director level in a large integrated health system.

We are looking for two exceptional individuals to join the Executive Medical Director's department as Deputy Executive Medical Directors. You will play a key strategic leadership role across the Health Board as we continue to drive transformational change to ensure we deliver high quality, safe, and effective services to our patients and service users.

Our intention is to appoint both posts simultaneously and to use the opportunity to appoint individuals with complementary skills, backgrounds, and experiences. Both posts are full-time, but consideration will be given to clinicians wishing to undertake up to 2 clinical sessions in order to maintain their clinical practice. Applications from less than full time candidates are welcomed.

Main duties of the job

You will bring outstanding leadership and influencing skills with the ability to forge effective working relationships across a wide set of internal and external stakeholders. You will have the ability to inspire and motivate colleagues to achieve outstanding and high quality outcomes, as well as provide challenge and ensure professional standards are maintained. Our role as a teaching Health Board, providing the highest quality undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, is extremely important to us. We aspire to be a clinically-led organisation, in which research and innovation drive change.

  • Significant experience in senior Medical Management roles including senior operational leadership role, with experience in medical workforce leadership
