The main duties include data entry of confidential information; preparation, labelling and processing of clinical specimens; and maintaining and operating instrumentation, all of which must undertaken with care. It will be advantageous to have worked in a laboratory environment previously and some IT experience would be of benefit.

Main duties of the job
Fixed Term for 11 months
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Pathology Department at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital for a Medical Laboratory Assistant who will be trained to work within our Microbiology laboratory providing support to Biomedical Scientists within Bacteriology and Virology.
The applicant should have a good standard of general education and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate an attention to detail and an ability to learn new tasks.
The post-holder will be required to handle biological specimens (e.g. blood, faeces, urine, sputum) in accordance with Directorate Health & Safety Protocols and Standard Operating Procedures.
