Deputy Clinical Team Leader - Vaccs & Imms/Health Protection
The closing date is 31 August 2025
Job summary
We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join us in our community based Health Protection Service. As a Deputy Clinical Team Leader working primarily in a vaccination, immunisation and testing role you will also enjoy the benefits of gaining experience in our developing wider health protection model.
This post will be of interest to highly motivated nurses wishing to develop their knowledge, skills and experience in leading and managing nursing teams. Applicants will also need to demonstrate a positive commitment and enthusiasm to developing excellence in population health protection.
The successful candidate will directly lead a team of nurses working flexibly across the Health Board footprint. You'll be fully committed to providing the highest standard of vaccination, immunisation & testing services across all age groups. This will be for both our general public and also our staff who live and work in the Health Board.
Vaccination saves lives and we therefore aim that all vulnerable settings are supported with sound nursing guidance on prevention and management of disease outbreaks as well as testing and tracing processes. This will be for all critical settings across health and social care, HMP Parc and other environments within CTMUHB. The role includes outreach activity into patients own homes involving lone working when needed.
Main duties of the job
In support of the Clinical Team Leader the post holder will significantly contribute to reducing identified inequalities in population health between our most, and least, deprived groups and communities. The successful applicant will act as a skilled site clinical lead for agreed immunisation and testing programmes.
This will require the post holder to carry out a broad spectrum of general and operational duties to ensure the smooth and effective running of services. On a day-to-day basis the Deputy Clinical Team Leader will support the core nursing team undertaking a range of line management duties.
In addition, the successful candidate will routinely deputise for the Clinical Team Leader undertaking any delegated responsibilities including progressing programmes of clinical work as required.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. For more information, see 'Welsh Language Guidance' in the documents right at the bottom.
