An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join our busy team within Ophthalmology Day Surgery Unit, as part of Theatre Services. It will be possible to work full time or part time hours. This can be discussed at interview . This Vacancy is available for both novice and experienced Support Workers as specific in house training will be provided.
Welsh Skills Desirable:This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This means Speaking & Listening at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2). We don't need fluency. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. For more information, see the 'Croeso Candidate' booklet below.

Main duties of the job
This post will involve assisting the registered practitioner in looking after adult and paediatric patients before, during and after their operation. The post will involve setting up and moving lots of different types of equipment including heavy theatre trays and patients on trolleys to ensure an effective and efficient service for patients.
This post will involve Circulating duties as well as setting up Theatres for both Elective & some emergency procedures including but not limited to moving different types of equipment, instrument trays and patients on wheelchairs and trolleys. This is a physically and mentally demanding job and the successful candidate will have to prove they can be adaptable to keep up with this ever changing environment.

The Vacancy is based in The Princess of Wales Hospital Ophthalmology Day Surgery Unit and the successful candidate will be required to rotate to Main Theatre and Day Surgery Unit as well as work across other hospitals within the Health Board when service demands require.
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake training programmes in conjunction with the CTMUHB and Health Care Support Workers Framework.
