Specialist Occupational Therapist

The closing date is 02 July 2025

Job summary

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist looking to make a meaningful impact on the lives of adults experiencing mental health challenges?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist with mental health experience to join our inpatient team at Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant. In this role, you will provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) setting, ensuring the delivery of an evidence-based, occupation-focused service.

You will benefit from regular professional supervision with the OT Team Lead, as well as peer supervision and support through the Band 6 Professional Development Forum.

Our inpatient mental health unit accommodates individuals both informally and under the Mental Health Act, making a strong understanding of relevant legislation essential for this role. You will work alongside a dedicated MDT, liaising closely with colleagues in community mental health teams, home treatment, and rehabilitation services to ensure continuity of care.

This post is directly supervised by the Band 7 Team Lead, with additional support from a fellow Band 6, a Rotational Band 5, and a Band 3 OT Technician.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will:

Promote recovery and self-management strategies to empower service users.

Conduct comprehensive OT assessments to inform intervention plans, identify strengths, and develop adaptive strategies.

Play a vital role in reducing hospital admissions and supporting inclusion.

Actively contribute to risk assessment, ensuring effective risk management in collaboration with the MDT.

Provide an occupational perspective within MDT care plans.
