Violence and Aggression Case Manager/Trainer

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Health, Safety and Fire Department. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our team.

The post holder will provide support to all staff following an assault or a critical incident.

The post holder will offer support to managers following an assault to their staff.

The post holder will deliver bespoke training to staff on site when required to mitigate the risks from clinically challenging behaviour.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Develop and implement specific Health Board procedures based on nationwide guidance, legislation and good practice in order to reduce the risk of violent incidents within the Health Board which includes specific guidance for managers and employees. This guidance includes providing advice on pursuing legal sanctions and prosecutions against perpetrators of violence within the Health Board.

The case management process may also involve adopting additional measures against perpetrators of unacceptable behaviour by issuing internal and civil sanctions, such as patient undertakings, patient exclusions, anti-social behaviour referrals or anti-social behaviour orders.

Have responsibility for Violence and Aggression Case Management within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) and will contribute to the creation of safe and secure environment for staff and members of the public so that the highest standards of clinical care can be made available to patients.

Ensuring that violent incidents are systematically reviewed to enable lessons to be identified and shared across the organisation.

Deliver Module B Personal Safety and De-escalation, Module C Breakaway, Safe Management of Clinically Challenging Behaviour training.

Deliver bespoke training on site to mitigate the risks of patient related clinically challenging behaviour.

Essential

  • Degree level or possess the equivalent level of skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Have a recognised teaching qualification, PTLLS level 3 or equivalent.
  • Experience of working with people and of dealing with members of the public.
  • Experience of investigating incidents. Experience in managing post incident actions, including debriefing and supporting staff.
  • Relevant experience in Violence and Aggression.

Desirable

  • Security Management Service Accreditation or equivalent Police Service related experience.
  • GSA Training Qualification in Violence and Aggression or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in case management, investigation or risk management in a health care, law enforcement or social services environment.
  • Experience of preparing and delivering training/briefings.
  • Experience in a health care setting.

  • Verbal and written communication skills and able to converse with multi-disciplinary groups and individuals.
  • Translate knowledge of the subject matter into appropriate healthcare context with knowledge of practical application.
