Job summary
The post holder will have reception and clerical duties which will support the smooth and efficient running of the emergency Dental Service. The post does not carry managerial responsibility. The range of responsibilities will be in support of the Dental Officers and Dental Nurses.
The post holder will be responsible for the organisation of their own workload, including clerical and reception duties on a daily basis, ensuring effective use of all resources available. The post holder will be expected to act in a professional manner at all times, and be able to communicate in manner both over the telephone and when dealing with patients presenting at the Health Centre.
The post holder will understand the need for strict confidentiality and have excellent customer care skills.
The post holder will work within the remit of the role and be guided by Health Board policies, using their initiative where possible but identifying where support and advice is required.

Main duties of the job
Be responsible for updating the Out of Hours Service with details of patient treatment and outcomes.
Undertake general Reception duties such as greeting patients and answering the telephone, either dealing with the query or referring to an appropriate member of staff.
Liaise with Out of Hours regarding appointments.
Deal with general queries and recognise when issues are more complex and require referral to other members of the Healthcare Team.
Organise own tasks/ plans and prioritise own workload.
Ensure Dental Records/ Notes are available for the appropriate Dental Officer.
Receive and record any payments as they arrive and liaise with the Assistant Directorate Manager.
Replenish stocks of forms as required.
Replenish printers with paper.
Monitor waiting rooms to ensure they are kept in a reasonable neat and tidy manner.
Replenish waiting room leaflets and ensue only up to date posters are displayed on information boards.
Receive patients as they arrive at the practice, booking them in using the IT system.
Deal with enquiries made patients/ visitors presenting at the reception desk.
Photocopy Dental records and results as required.
Maintain patient records to ensure information is accurate and up to date for future reference and complies with GDPR.
