Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead for Court of Protection. This vacancy is fixed term to 31st March 2026.

The role will be part of the Corporate Safeguarding and legal teams to safeguard vulnerable people while ensuring their human rights are respected and their voices are heard in all planning and decision making in relation to their health, care and wellbeing. They will work with colleagues to ensure the least restrictive option is used when safeguarding individuals and where it is necessary to restrict the freedoms of vulnerable patients will ensure the appropriate legal framework is used.

Strategically lead on the development and implementation of the Health Board's processes for the management and oversight of cases within the Court of Protection, ensuring minimum standards and agreed uniform processes are in place for the oversight and management of Court of Protection work across the HB.

Main duties of the job

o Develop key relationships and ensure effective communication mechanisms are in place with the Corporate Governance team, the Shared Services Legal team, MCA DoLS Team and Service Group leads within the organisation.o Lead in the development and delivery of strategy, policies and processes relating to MCA and DoLS cases within the Court arena and the use of IMCA services.o Lead on the oversight of cases within the CoP for the HB providing specialist, expert advice to staff and service leads on policy, practice and legislative development arising from Court Judgements.o Lead on audits relevant to Court of Protection work and compliance with the Mental Capacity Act, undertake clinical audits and monitor and collect statistical data in relation to Court of Protection cases.
