Job summary

  • Work with Senior Nurses for Emergency Care and Emergency Department Managers across CTMUHB, and be responsible for the development of emergency care nursing practice to provide a high quality, safe, effective and innovative service.
  • Be responsible for the governance of the education and training of Emergency Department nurses across the three DGH sites of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) - the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Prince Charles Hospital and the Princess of Wales Hospital.
  • Provide professional leadership, direction and development for all Emergency Department nursing staff.
  • Support the Head of Nursing in ensuring the highest standard of nursing care is provided, monitored and evaluated within the clinical areas of responsibility.

Main duties of the job

The post holder reports to the Lead Nurse for Unscheduled Care and is accountable to the Head of Nursing.

They will hold an overview of education and training and ensure the development and educational needs of individuals and/or groups of staff are met.

Be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality, evidence-based training and education to nursing professionals who work within the Emergency Department, on an individual or group basis.

Be a credible clinical leader able to direct, lead and empower nursing staff to ensure a high standard of education and professionalism, in service delivery and that quality, governance and educational objectives are achieved.

Be responsible for the development, planning, implementation and delivery of new and existing training programmes, in collaboration with the team and unit managers in all of the emergency care settings within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (Have overall responsibility and accountability for the development of educational frameworks, educational training programmes for emergency care nursing staff and create a positive learning environment to promote clinical excellence within the service.CTMUHB).
