Job summary
The post holder will work either as part of the ward based catering team or as part of the Main Kitchen catering team and will be responsible for food preparation or regeneration, meal service and cleaning of all catering areas.
To support the Facilities (Hotel Services) team in delivering catering services to patients, staff and visitors in accordance with the Health Board Food Safety policy and all related and relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
To assist in developing, maintaining and promoting the highest standards of service delivery, supporting, team working practices and the Facilities Unit commitment to EFQMS; and helping to maintain open and effective communications.
Main duties of the job
The Principal Duties of the job are as follows:
- To prepare food and beverages in accordance with Health Board policy, procedures and legislative requirements;
- To assist nursing staff with meal service at ward level;
- To serve beverages at ward level in accordance with patient requests;
- To serve staff and customers in the dining room providing a professional and polite service;
- To operate the cash register accurately;
- To ensure all catering areas are cleaned in accordance with daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
In the event of a major incident or to support adverse weather or other Facilities services contingency, the post holder may be required to be called in outside of normal working hours to support the Facilities Services in the contingency actions when and where required.
The duties of this post are not inflexible or exhaustive and will be reviewed periodically and may be changed to be consistent with the grading of the post as the organisation or department develops and following consultation with the post holder.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
