Job summary
We are looking for a fully trained SCP (in the speciality of Trauma and Orthopaedics) who hold an MSc SCP qualification.
Applicants who do not currently meet the skills and competences for the band 7 role, are encouraged to apply and, if successful, will be appointed under annex 21 rules supported by a development plan for 3 years.
During the first-year payment will be 65% of the top rate of band 7 pay, second year 70% and third year 75% - (subject to criteria within the development plan being met)
Following successful completion and successful attainment of skills and competences for the role the post-holder will then be paid at the full band 7
Continued support and supervision will be provided to develop the practitioner to the band 7 role.
This role will require the SCP to working against the 4 pillars of advanced practice:
Clinical - Extensive theatre experience of major orthopaedic procedures. Autonomous Clinical management of orthopaedic patients in the ward area/theatre and out -patient settings.
Education - delivery of education to MDT. Support mentorship to multi professional trainees. Responsible for own development and education needs. Maintain live portfolio of evidence around AP in the context of surgical care practice.
Research - carry out Audit/QI/service evaluation/ research in relation to practice.
Leadership - lead on service change, contribute to key HB strategy development groups.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for highly motivated and experienced Advanced Surgical Care Practitioner to join our Trauma and Orthopaedic team. The candidate must have completed a MSc in Surgical Care Practice. Candidates who have not completed a MSc will be considered for a training role where Annex 21 would be applied. They will be expected to work autonomously making higher level clinical decisions for patients in theatre, ward based areas, clinic and out- patient settings. The post holder will work within the context of a MDT and will need to demonstrate robust leadership and management skills in the context of the role. Research and the delivery of education to a multi-professional audience will also be an expected part of the role.
