Job summary
To support the Facilities (Hotel Services) team in delivering housekeeping and linen room services to the National Standards for Cleanliness in NHS Wales, HIW standard 5 and organisational standards.
To assist in developing, maintaining and promoting the highest standards of service delivery and team working practices, supporting the Facilities Unit commitment to the EQMS framework and helping to maintain open, effective communication.
Main duties of the job
Carrying out housekeeping, cleaning and service associated semi skilled duties, e.g. curtain changes, removal and cleaning of fixtures and fittings, linen.
Maintaining a safe working environment.
Provide a Patient/Customer service.
The post holder is required to attend all relevant staff meetings and training sessions as required by the Housekeeping Manager/supervisors to maintain personal competency and comply with Health Board or legislative requirements. In accordance with housekeeping policy and procedures, occupational health and health and safety procedures.
The post holder may be required to explain routine issues relating to cleaning procedures/schedules and use of equipment to colleagues for example, new starters.
The post holder should keep the Housekeeping Supervisor advised on the developments within work area on a regular basis relating to all areas within the remit of the role. This will include:
Acting as the direct interface between the ward sister/charge nurse, the Infection prevention and control team and the housekeeping service. This will involve communicating routine information regarding cleaning schedules/techniques and responding promptly to any ad hoc cleaning.

In the event of a major incident, e.g. infection prevention and control outbreak escalation or to support adverse weather or other Facilities services contingency, the post holder may be required to be called in outside of normal working hours to support the Facilities Services in the contingency actions when and where required.
