Job summary
The opportunity has arisen for a staff member who is experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated to work in the role of Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker to become part of the Overnight District Nursing Service.
The service operates between the hours of 20.30pm and 08.00am, 7nights a week, 365 days of the year and is responsible for providing patient centered care to patients located within the Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB footprint.
The post holder will contribute to the implementation of essential nursing care as assessed and prescribed by the Team Leader/District Nurse/Registered Nurse. This will include working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency arena alongside the day staff and primary health care team. They will acknowledge their limitations and actively seek advice as necessary and will adhere to policies as set out by the UHB.
The post holder must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be self motivated and organised with the ability to use their own initiative and demonstrate excellent team work.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to undertake a range of clinical and clerical activities as delegated by the Team Leader/District Nurse/Registered Nurse. These activities will be carried out in a variety of settings including patients' homes, clinic settings, residential and nursing homes and the district nurses bases and will include; Wound care, general nursing care, moving and handling of patients and inanimate loads, bowel care, bladder care, catheter care, end of life care, palliative care and care of the deceased.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
There is an element of computer work to this role and staff are expected to use the equipment that they are supplied with to access policies, procedures and guidelines, to order stock supplies, maintain contact with other members of the team and to ensure documentation and administration aspects are up to date.
Staff are expected to ensure that any training required for their role is up to date and completed in a timely manner.
