Job summary

This full time post is a replacement post. There are currently nine specialty doctor posts within the Mental Health Directorate of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. The post is based at Trealaw Resource Centre (CDAT - Rhondda) and Kier Hardie Health Park (CDAT - Merthyr), but the post holder will be expected to work at various sites within the University Health Board area. The post can be full time, maximum part time or job share by negotiation. A significant degree of flexibility with respect to the organisation of work will be required.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to

Provide senior clinical input to the assessment and management of patients referred to the service.

Work with other members of the clinical team to review referred patients and advise on management.

Essential

  • Current GMC/GDC registration
  • oMBBS/MBBS or equivalent.
  • oEligible to apply for s12 (2) approval

Desirable

  • oAdditional relevant postgraduate qualification
  • oS.12(2) approval
  • oApproved Clinician or eligible for Welsh Approved Clinician approval.

Experience

Essential

  • oExperience in addictions psychiatry
  • o3 years' experience to CT3 level
  • oComprehensive training and experience in psychiatry.

Desirable

  • oMore than 3 years' experience to CT3 or higher level in a relevant specialty

Skills

Essential

  • oGood communication skills (oral, written and interpersonal).
  • oCompetence in current assessment and treatment.
  • oCompetence in risk assessment and management.

Desirable

  • oUnderstanding of relevant clinical, legal and policy issues.

Management/Teaching

Essential

  • oAbility to supervise staff effectively
  • oEvidence of having delivered postgraduate teaching.
