Job summary

This is a substantive consultant paediatrician post, become available due to reduced sessions within the existing team. This is a traditional consultant post with no contribution to Tier 2 rota. The post-holder would be part of a team of 9 consultants providing paediatric and neonatal care in PCH and 2 community paediatricians. Neonatal experience required to support on-site neonatal services.

Main duties of the job

This is a replacement full time 10 session post offering 8 sessions DCC and 2 SPA sessions. SPA can be increased up to 3 sessions (and DCC proportionately reduced) subject to the post holder taking up departmental lead roles that attract additional SPA. Part time arrangements will be considered. The post holder will be based at PCH.

  • Provision of supervision of junior medical staff.
  • Participate in the postgraduate and undergraduate teaching programme.
  • Participate in clinical governance issues, which include medical audit and research.
  • Participate in the consultant of the week system for general paediatrics at a frequency of 1:8 weeks.
  • Participate in the consultant of the week system for Neonatal unit, 4-5 / year

  • oFull GMC registration oMB, BS or equivalent oMRCPCH or equivalent oEligible for CCT within 6 months of interview date will be considered. oNLS and APLS/EPLS certified oExperience in paediatric Diabetes

Desirable

  • oRelevant higher degree e.g. MD; PhD; MSc oNLS /APLS/EPLS instructor oSPIN in paediatric Diabetes
