Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Costing and Business Intelligence team, supporting the Finance Manager in delivering an effective business intelligence solution to enhance both data analytics and self-service Patient Level Costingwithin Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have significant analytical and logical abilities in working with complex data. We are looking for a highly organised individual who is able to contribute to projects on a day-to-day basis. You should be confident, self-motivated and be able to assist in data manipulation of large volumes of data.
As a member of a small team, you will be expected to contribute to aspects of Costing and Business intelligence management in a positive and pragmatic manner. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities of this post will include:-
- Assist the Finance Manager - Costing and Business Intelligence (BI) as directed in all financial information and reporting issues.
- Ensure accurate costing information is provided within agreed deadlines.
- Assist the Costing Accountant in the production of a full range of specialty, HRG, patient level procedure costs
- Monitor, collect, collate and interpret financial information from a number of different sources
- Analyse and investigate costing irregularities and queries, identifying discrepancies and providing solutions from a range of options
- Support the Finance Manger - Costing & BI in prioritising developments in costing.
- Identify, review and maintain activity-based data requirements from the information department relating to costing.
- Liaise with Business Partners to ensure most accurate allocation methods are being used for each cost centre ensuring these are updated when cost centre uses change

The post holder is required to progress the departments innovative costing research agenda, maintain the costing system and collate diverse datasets from a number of sources.
As well as being the principal analyst progressing research within the costing team the post holder will lead on the maintaining of the costing system and leading on collating various datasets for use in the costing cycle.
