Job summary

The Princess of Wales Hospital Pharmacy Department has an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and committed registered Pharmacy Technicians to join our pharmacy team.

Our Band 4 Technicians are valued members of the multidisciplinary team at ward level and in the automated, Technician led dispensary. You will gain experience across a variety of clinical specialities, working closely with pharmacists and other health care professionals to deliver a high quality, patient focussed care.

We are committed to the development of the Technician role and can offer excellent in house training, where you will be supported and encouraged to further develop yourself in areas such as accredited checking, clinical trials and medicines management.

Applicants must have a BTEC and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences, a Level 4 certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice or equivalent qualifications to enable them to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council. We welcome applicants who are working towards these certificates or are currently working within other sectors.

Main duties of the job

Main duties will include inpatient, outpatient and discharge dispensing within our pharmacy department. We are committed to the development of the Pharmacy Technician role and you will have the opportunity to attain both the Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician qualification and Medicines Management qualification. Once MM accredited individuals will gain experience in working at ward level and developing the skills to work more automatously in managing medicines at ward level. Duties would include assessing patients own drugs and accurately supplying required medicines for their inpatient stay and discharge.

You must possess excellent communication and organisational skills in order to provide an efficient and safe pharmacy service for the patients of Bridgend and surrounding areas.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
