Job summary
We have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, experienced pharmacist wishing to take on a new role in leading the implementation of biologics, specialist therapies and high cost medicines across the health board.
The post holder will be the Pharmacy / medicines management lead for the introduction, implementation and utilisation of new medicines and therapies within the health board and across the wider health economy including secondary care, primary care and homecare.
They will lead, develop, manage and monitor clinical pharmacy services across specialist pharmacy teams and provide specialist clinical input into developing specialities using biologics and high cost medicines to treat long-term conditions in line with local and national policies, guidelines and frameworks.
They will be responsible for leading the delivery, management and development of biologics and High Cost Drugs to high standards of efficiency and effectiveness across the Health Board.
Main duties of the job
Through effective leadership and management, the post holder will be responsible for the delivery and development of the specialist biologics and High Cost Drugs implementation and delivery plan within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB). The post holder will be responsible for providing a high-quality clinical pharmacy service to support specialist areas within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) that actively utilise high-cost and specialist biologic medications. The role will also have clinical input into the care of patients in specialist clinical teams. Their expertise will be utilised to support the teams with the safe and effective use of biologic medications and associated commissioning pathways.
The post holder will maximise the cost-effective use of high cost drugs (HCD), delivering efficiencies and ensuring best value, through engagement with clinical teams and divisional leads, supporting prior approval processes, ensuring appropriate usage, and supporting audit of NICE /AWMSG approved medicines.
Alongside the access to medicines, team the post holder will ensure that treatments supported by NICE / AWMSG Technology Appraisals and Clinical Commissioning Policies are implemented according to the published recommendations and local commissioning arrangements.
