A truly exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, dynamic and suitably qualified professional to join us as a full time Band 8a Highly Specialist CAMHS Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to work in our CAMHS Inpatient Tier 4 unit for South Wales.
Due to new funding in our Tier 4 Inpatient CAMHS Unit, Ty Llidiard, we have invested in a number of new therapy posts to expand the workforce of the current therapies team, including clinical psychology, occupational therapy, art psychotherapy, dietetics, systemic psychotherapy and child psychotherapy.
The post holder will provide a specialist clinical/counselling psychology service to the Regional Tier 4 Inpatient service. The post holder will deliver clinical psychological interventions and therapeutic work which will include individual and group work when required. The post holder will provide clinical supervision, consultation, complex case discussion, and work within the multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to work with children age 12- 18yrs who are resident on the in-patient unit and also with parents and carers of these young people who may have mental health and emotional difficulties. The post holder will be required to work with parents/carers who may have mental health and emotional difficulties.
This post is central to the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and the post holder will contribute to the treatment programme and thinking around very complex children, young people and families accessing the CAMHS service. Psychological assessment and delivery of evidence based psychological interventions are a requirement of the post. The post holder will be expected to be able to clearly and coherently assess risk, care plan, and develop formulations and treatment for complex vulnerable children and families. The post holder will manage a caseload and provide leadership within the inpatient unit as part of a comprehensive therapy team and work collaboratively with the Lead for Therapies, senior staff and LMT. The post holder will be required to provide specialist consultation and teaching to other members of the MDT and staff external to Tier 4 CAMHS in relation to current patients of Ty Llidiard as necessary.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Degree in psychology or higher award, eligibility for full BPS membership and HCPC registration.
- Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 - as accredited by the BPS

- Knowledge and clinical experience of delivering evidenced based therapeutic interventions
