Job summary
The specialty doctor post is part time for 3 days per week (6 sessions). The post will join a complement of 2 part time Consultants, a part time specialty doctor, junior medical staff, responsible for the provision of Specialist Palliative Medicine services to the Rhondda Taf Ely locality based in Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Y Bwthyn , Specialist Palliative Care Unit. The post provides a broad range of experience in Specialist Palliative Care. Previous post holders have used the role to gain experience and expertise in palliative care, and as a stepping stone to Specialty Training in Palliative Medicine.
Main duties of the job
The clinical focus of this post will be in the hospital palliative care team. The hospital palliative care team is a consultant led service, with specialist nurses providing advice and support to patients in the Princess of Wales Hospital.
This post is offered on the terms of the Specialty Doctor contract on a part time basis, and is subject to the terms and conditions of service governing the appointment of hospital medical and dental staff in England and Wales.
