Job summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our pharmacy team at the Princess of Wales Hospital as an Advanced Pharmacist in Mental Health. The service supports the mental health needs of patients in the hospital sites as well as outpatient clinic settings. This role will be challenging but immensely rewarding as it is key to achieving our goals within pharmacy and the Health Board as a whole, in line with the Pharmacy: Delivering a Healthier Wales vision.

The successful candidate will have a strong clinical background in mental health pharmacy, and a non-medical prescribing qualification. They must be able to work and make decisions autonomously and integrate well with the wider MDT in both inpatient, and outpatient settings. The successful candidate will be motivated, innovative, flexible, proactive and driven.

This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your engagement and networking skills, as well as hone your clinical pharmacy skills in a dynamic working environment. This role will include sessional independent prescribing work in outpatient clinics such as Adult Mental Health, Older Adults Mental Health and Adult ADHD.

Please note this role is currently a FIXED TERM 12 Month contract, however there may be further funding opportunities at a later date.

Main duties of the job

The pharmacy department at Princess of Wales Hospital is a modern, friendly department which supports many pharmacists working at an advanced practice level.

The directorate is forward thinking and innovative, having an integrated approach to Primary and Secondary Care management of medicines. The hospital site has automated pharmacy systems, comprehensive medicines management services and fully implemented electronic discharge systems. pharmacist-led clinics are well established and pharmacists are valued members of clinical multidisciplinary teams in both Primary and Secondary Care.

Princess of Wales Hospital is located off the M4 in Bridgend, with easy access from both the West and the East corners of Wales.
