Job summary
We are recruiting a full time Physiotherapist to the the Specialist Palliative Care Team in the Royal Glamorgan Hospital. Within this role you will be working in a multi-professional team across in-patient, community and out-patient settings. You will autonomously manage a complex patient caseload with specialist palliative care needs, demonstrating high level clinical reasoning and communication skills, providing palliative rehabilitation, symptom control, enabling independence, self-management strategies and optimising quality of life.
The successful candidate will be innovative and forward thinking, and be professionally confident with experience across a variety of NHS in-patient/community settings. You will need to have a high level of emotional intelligence and empathy, excellent communication skills, be able to work well within a multi-disciplinary team, be proactive in audit and quality improvement and have excellent organisational and time management skills.

Main duties of the job
The clinical lead Physiotherapy role in Specialist Palliative care requires a dynamic and professionally confident physiotherapist with suitable experience to:
- To manage a defined caseload of clients with complex needs within in-patient, out-patient, Day Centre and community settings, using evidence based /client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
- To independently manage their own daily complex caseload as part of a multidisciplinary team, and to refer appropriate patients for further assessments/interventions.
- To use highly specialised, advanced clinical reasoning skills to determine a differential diagnosis.
- To undertake relevant research/audit within the Specialist Palliative care service, developing an advanced practice portfolio and implementing best practice in line with National Guidelines.
- To provide leadership for less experienced staff, through supervision and appraisal as delegated by supervisor
- To contribute to the maintenance and development of the Health Board Physiotherapy Service.
- To regularly supervise Physiotherapy students on practice placements, and other students e.g. Work Experience.
- To take a lead role in the post-graduate education of physiotherapy colleagues and other professions.
