Job summary
The Emergency Department (ED) is a small-medium friendly department seeing approximately 64,000 adult and paediatric patients per year. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Senior Clinical Fellow to join the multi-disciplinary ED team.
We have excellent relationships with other specialties in the hospital and the community and are continuously developing and improving pathways to provide our patient with the highest quality care.
There is a good level of Consultant supervision on the shop floor and support with regular Clinical Governance meetings and sharing of learning from events. Audit and research interests will be encouraged.
The post will be fixed term for up to 12 months.
Main duties of the job

- To act when necessary as resuscitation team leader for seriously ill or injured patients, including children, while they are in the Emergency Department
- To contribute to the supervision and management of clinical shifts as required while on duty, managing the deposition of clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow
- To support the supervision and training of junior medical staff
- To maintain a licence to practice through revalidation, to undergo satisfactory annual appraisal using the All Wales online Medical Appraisal Scheme and to formulate a Personal Development Plan, in conjunction with the clinical lead, to identify training and development needs

Essential
- Full GMC registration with a license to practice
- MBChB or equivalent
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK
- Hold a valid ALS, APLS/EPLS or ETC/ATLS certificate
- Ability to provide complete employment history
Desirable
- Success in MRCEM or equivalent
Knowledge
Essential
- Evidence of Foundation Competences from UKFPO or equivalent
- Evidence of at least 4 years postgraduate clinical experience
- Competent to work without direct clinical supervision, where appropriate
- Able to manage the high volume of patients attending the ED and be able to prioritise high acuity patients
Desirable
- Previous work in emergency medicine at ST3+ level or equivalent in the UK
- Able to act as the senior doctor on the shop floor
- Able to support junior doctors and allied health professionals in the management of cases in minors, majors, resuscitation area and paediatrics
- Knowledge, interest and commitment to clinical audit
