Job summary
This is a general paediatric post, replacing an existing post. The post holder will join a team of 7 general paediatric and 3 community paediatric consultants responsible for the provision of paediatric care at the Princess of Wales Hospital as part of CTMU HB. This is a full time post offering 8.0 DCC sessions and 2.0 SPA sessions. Part time arrangements will be considered. SPA can be increased up to 3 (and DCC proportionately reduced) subject to the post holder taking up Departmental lead roles that attract additional SPA.
The post holder will be based at POWH and work together with the existing consultants to provide and develop general paediatric services.
Main duties of the job
There will be a regular service week including weekend covering the paediatric assessment unit, paediatric ward and neonatal unit (1:8). This includes conducting regular ward rounds on the paediatric ward and neonatal unit. On-call arrangements are non-resident (1:8). During this time the post-holder will supervise tier 1 and tier 2 doctors as per the respective rotas. There is a dedicated CTM safeguarding rota in place 5 days a week during the normal hours. The post holder is expected to contribute to this rota one day a month. There are exceptions where safeguarding care is provided by the service consultant, particularly for children presenting directly to paediatric services through ED and infants requiring further investigations. The post-holder will be allocated sessions in the outpatient department managing children with general and chronic paediatric disorders. It is anticipated that most outpatient clinics will be run at the Princess of Wales Hospital site, although expansion into peripheral sites is planned for the future. The post holder will be expected to participate in these clinics as per service requirements.
English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply
Interview date: 5th December 2023
