Job summary

The Clinical Investigator will be responsible for undertaking detailed and robust investigations into clinical incidents, concerns and complaints as well as reviewing follow up's not booked (FUNB), in order to support Organisational Learning and the Duty of Candour process.

The investigator will ensure that the 6 domains of Quality are reflected when investigating in order to improve health, through learning, for patients across the UHB.

The clinical investigator will primarily be required to support the review of investigations within the Ophthalmology service, however, may be required to support other clinical investigations within planned care.

Main duties of the job

The individual will manage their own caseload of investigations, which they will lead and complete to a high standard and deliver within the required timeframe for submission. Investigations will be undertaken in line with the root cause analysis methodology, utilising national toolkits.

The investigator will liaise with key stakeholders from the care group and other key services such as medical records and the digital patient notes team, to ensure information provided is accurate and comprehensive.

The investigator will liaise with fellow investigators and under the direction of the Senior nurse and Lead Nurse to ensure that any areas identified for wider learning are shared at the appropriate forums to ensure lessons learned.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable

  • Relevant professional qualification with current registration.

Experience
