Job summary

Cwm Taf Morgannwg have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with a keen interest in education and professional development. This post holder will support the acute nursing team at Prince Charles Hospital. This post will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to influence, help develop and support a variety of education programmes such as the Newly Registered Paediatric Nurse Programme and In House Education days.

The post holder will be responsible for working with the Senior Nurse (Acute Children's Nursing) and ward manager in Prince Charles Hospital and also work closely with the acute PDN team across Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB in the development of Children's Nursing practice to provide a high-quality, safe, effective and innovative service.

The post holder will hold an overview of education and training and ensure the development and educational needs of individuals and / or groups of staff are met.

The post holder, in line with UHB policies and procedures, will participate in all aspects of Clinical Governance including patient safety and staff investigations and the completion of risk reports to support quality improvement, including the development of action plans to demonstrate lessons learnt.

The post holder will support the development of strategies to ensure recruitment and retention of a highly motivated workforce, including the assessment of training requirements and delivery of mandatory and role pertinent training programmes.

Main duties of the job

Develop, facilitate and monitor the ongoing education and training of Children's Nursing staff and create a positive learning environment to promote clinical excellence within paediatric services.The post-holder would be expected to deliver training and education related to both patient care and staff competence / training needs in a variety of settings, which may also include extended family members, education or local authority staff. Support Further & Higher Education colleagues in delivery of education / training to pre and post registration nursing students and post-graduates undertaking studies pertinent to the roles and responsibilities of the team. Support the recruitment of staff to the Children's Nursing workforce.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
