Job summary
The aim of the role is to ensure that women and men with perinatal mental health difficulties, and their families receive the specialist care and support they need during pregnancy and in the post-natal period. In doing so the post aims to support family health and well-being promoting positive relationships and attachment.
Key to the role is educating, upskilling and empowering health visitors and the wider workforce to ensure that services deliver the best possible personalised care to those parents and their families to optimise their emotional health and wellbeing.
This post will be a regional role in developing and maintaining high standards of care for parents with mental health difficulties in pregnancy and the postnatal period, and their families.
The post holder will demonstrate high levels of autonomous practice and will be able to make decisions, plan effectively and be skilled in collaborative working.
The post holder will understand the impact of poor mental health on maternal/ paternal and infant health and will raise awareness of the positive outcomes that can be achieved by influencing effective care planning across services.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity for a Health Visitor with a special interest in perinatal and infant mental health has arisen within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
The post holder will be a dynamic, motivated individual to support the provision of effective and efficient service. You will be expected to hold a SCPHN qualification, will possess excellent clinical skills with a pro- active approach to evidence based practice. You will be a team player displaying excellent interpersonal skills with clear and precise communication with team members/colleagues and the ability to embrace new challenges.
The post holder would represent the service across the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board region, contributing to an All Wales approach providing an equitable service for all. The role is vital in influencing and shaping the development of services for individuals and their families with mental health difficulties. The role will complement the vital work that the Specialist Mental Health Teams are offering, supporting Health Visitor colleagues to provide the right care, at the right time, by the right people in line with the All Wales Perinatal Mental Health Pathways.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 18 months to meet the needs of the service.
