Job summary

Cwm Taf Morgannwg is seeking to appoint a Head of Information Governance to lead the development, implementation, establishment, and ownership of the areas of Information Governance as a corporate resource, so that it strategically and operationally supports the clinical and business objectives of the UHB.

This role will interpret and advise CTM on the implementation of all UK and European legislation, as well as NHS and Government guidelines in these areas, implementing appropriate measures as required.

We are looking for someone with excellent knowledge of the relevant legislation and good practice, experience of providing in depth professional advice, along with significant experience of management and leadership. A confident communicator, you will build networks and trust across and beyond CTM, drawing on analytical skills and strategic thinking to make effective judements.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • Strategically oversee, and operationally develop, implement, scrutinise and review appropriate strategies, policies and procedures that support all Information Governance areas.
  • Ensure the Health Board complies with, and conforms to, legal requirements including the Data Protection & Freedom of Information Acts through the enforcement of suitable policies/procedures, providing advice, drive, assistance and guidance, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of the local and national Freedom of Information & Governance agenda to lead Health Board's developments, in line with the strategic direction, interpreting changes and advising the Board through the Information Governance Committee and Board reports.
  • Lead, plan and organise the timely delivery of obligatory documentation e.g. Freedom of Information responses, Data Protection Subject Access Request responses, Healthcare Standards toolkit.
  • Using specialist knowledge, advise on highly complex legal and regulatory issues, often involving difficult judgments where no precedent has been set in controversial areas such as the Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Act, and other national legislation.
  • They will provide crucial expertise to support all services across the University Health Board and help to lead the information governance function for the benefit of the people across the Cwm Taf Morgannwg region and the wider population that access healthcare services within our area
