The CTM UHB Older Person's Psychology Team consists of a supportive and passionate team of colleagues, including experienced Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists and Psychological Therapists. The wider Psychology service within CTM UHB has undergone exciting developments in recent months and is a thriving department to sit within. We hold regular conferences throughout the year, where psychology teams across CTM UHB come together to share good practice and innovations within the trust and wider. We have close links with local Doctoral Clinical/Counselling Psychology programmes and provide regular training and placement opportunities to Trainees.
Main duties of the job
CTM UHB Older Person's Mental Health services are currently divided into five areas: Bridgend, Rhondda, Cynon, Taff and Merthyr - each area consists of an Older Person's Community Mental Health Team (OPCMHT) and Memory Assessment Service (MAS) and feeds into the Older Person's Mental Health inpatient wards.
This role provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner to act as the lead clinician for OPCMHT across CTM UHB, increasing the profile of psychological therapies, as well as developing the workforce and encouraging other healthcare professionals to become more psychologically minded.
The successful candidate for this post will work pan health board in a leadership and development capacity, taking a lead role in the development of operational elements of service delivery such as supervision, policy, evaluating the outcome of therapy, developing/providing training, support and specialist supervision for staff within OPMH and partners.
The post holder will also provide highly specialist psychological therapy to older people with complex needs. This includes providing a psychological assessment and therapy services to older adults under secondary care mental health services (Part 2 of the Mental Health Measure, 2010), as well as consultation and training as required for staff within the wider OPCMHT.
