Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a highly skilled, innovative and experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, who will ensure clinically led, community focused services, serving the whole person's needs by delivering excellent care in a culture of openness through effective collaboration.

You will be joining vibrant and experienced MDTs including mental health nurses, support workers, occupational therapists, and psychiatrists. Psychology is valued greatly across the teams and across the wider CTMUHB mental health care pathway and the post holder will work closely with the established team of psychologists.

Within CTM UHB, we have a range of supervision opportunities for our Psychology workforce, including access to specialist supervision in CAT, EMDR , Schema Therapy, Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), Systemic practice as well as supervision in integrative and creative therapy approaches. In addition, other models brought to the work include CFT, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and ACT. We have a full DBT service, offering weekly consultation groups, and strong links with the Traumatic Stress Wales Regional Lead.

We are constantly evolving the ways in which we work and practice in order to meet the needs of the populations we serve, and highly value new ideas and creative ways of working.

CPD and training are encouraged.

Main duties of the job

Essentially, the post involves taking a lead in promoting psychological ways of understanding and working across adult mental health, including service development and application of evidence-based, trauma informed models within CMHT's and working with the most complex and long-term service users. This will include undertaking complex clinical work, developing and delivering group programmes, providing training, supervision, formulation and professional reflective spaces for colleagues in psychology and other disciplines. S/he/they will also be expected/supported to undertake further training in relevant specialist areas, monitor and evaluate service developments and provide regular reports as appropriate, and work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 2000) including specifically, neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by Health and Care Professions Council, HCPC
  • Recognised training in supervision of trainee pscychologists

Desirable

  • Highly developed knowledge of more than one psychological model
  • Training in, and experience of applying, WARRN framework
  • Specific training in trauma-focused approaches either individual or group

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in Care and Treatment planning as defined under the Mental Health Measure, Wales
  • Experience of working with service users presenting with complex trauma
  • Experience of working with service users who present with high risk of self-harm or are vulnerable to exploitation

Desirable

  • Experience of facilitating team formulation and / or risk formulation meetings
  • Experience of supervising others in psychological care or treatment
