Job summary
The Consultant Clinical Psychologist for the Older Adults Mental Health and Specialist Dementia Intervention Service will be responsible for the provision of psychological services to older adults and adults of any age living with dementia within the Cwm Taf Morgannwg catchment area. The post holder will be responsible for developing the provision of psychological assessment (including neuropsychological assessments), psychological therapies and psychologically informed care and ensure equity of access to psychological provision for these service user groups. The successful applicant will provide leadership, direct supervision and work with stakeholders to identify service priorities.

The post holder will act as a senior clinical manager within the older adult speciality and work closely with the Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist for Older Adult's Community Mental Health and Memory Assessment Services to ensure a seamless provision of healthcare.
They will also work closely with the Operational Manager for the Specialist Dementia Intervention Team and the Senior Management Team within the Older Adult's Mental Health Inpatient service, to make recommendations and provide consultation to ensure that service users served by these services have access to a psychologically-informed model of care.
The post holder will be responsible for the recruitment of staff, providing and/or ensuring appropriate line management and supervision (professional and clinical). They will be required to actively engage in service development and seek opportunities for developing a training and recruitment strategy to widen access for psychological therapies to older people and adults with cognitive difficulties.

- Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 2000) including specifically neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by Health and Care Professions Council, HCPC
- Formal training in clinical supervision
- Significant post-graduate training/qualification in a systematic therapist such as CAT, CBT, DBT or other recognised modality
Desirable
- Post- doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
- Highly specialist knowledge and skills in at least two models of therapeutic intervention relevant for working with older adults and adults wit dementia their families and carers
