Job summary
The postholder will be based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital but will be required to work flexibly across other hospital sites, including Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil, Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda and other hospitals served by Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
The ophthalmology Unit has dedicated ophthalmic theatres within the Royal Glamorgan, Prince Charles and Princess of Wales Hospital with ceiling-mounted Leica microscopes.
The on-call element of the role will be on a 1:7 basis.
Excellent communication skills are required to support a multidisciplinary team approach to services.
Applicants must hold full General Medical Council (GMC) Registration.
Main duties of the job
This appointment is made under the Terms and Conditions of Service (Wales) and the policies and procedures of the Health Board. The successful candidate will be required to be suitably registered and have the license to practice with the General Medical Council at all times.

This appointment is subject to a satisfactory health record and it will be necessary for the appointee to have a medical examination.
The Specialist post is an intermediate non-training post. The successful candidate will be expected to have training and experience in Ophthalmology and at least 3 years in full time hospital service in the SHO or higher grade or equivalent.
