We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity for you to join the children's Speech and Language Therapy Service as a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist. You will work across the children's team supporting children with severe and complex communication needs and will support the implementation of the Additional Learning Needs Act in the speech and language therapy service under the supervision of the ALN departmental lead.

We are looking for a therapist who works well as part of a team with excellent communication skills and enjoys working collaboratively with others. You will demonstrate the Health Board values of listening, learning and improving, treating everyone with respect and always working together as on.

Main duties of the job

You will join the children's SLT team, working across a range of locations including community clinics, children's centres and specialist educational settings. You will provide highly specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice for children with a range of severe and complex communication difficulties including those associated with diagnoses such as ASD, syndromes, physical disability or learning difficulties.You will provide management and leadership for the SLT's and TI's providing to our caseloads.

You will support the implementation of the Additional Learning Needs Act in the speech and language therapy service under supervision of the ALN departmental lead. This will include providing training, devising processes, audit and supporting the SLT team in managing children with additional needs.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The children's SLT Team uses Malcomess Care Aims and Advanced Decision Making principles across the service in conjunction with many of the MDT Team. The children's SLT service has a range of clinical specialist posts available for support and second opinions and staff are fully supported by both a line management structure , Band 8 paediatric Leads and an Admin Team.
