Job summary
This is a permanent post providing an exciting opportunity to join a team of innovative ophthalmologists junior doctors within the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
Currently all emergency and major elective work will be undertaken at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital. All other work (outpatient, diagnostic, theatre) can be undertaken at either site.
You will participate on the 1:4 oncall rota, covering 17:00-19:00 weekdays and 10:00-17:00 at weekends.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to deputise for absent colleagues and in exceptional, unforeseen circumstances may have to perform additional duties to ensure the safe running of the department. Where such duties take place outside your normal contracted duties, you will receive either an equivalent off duty period or will be remunerated appropriately.
You will provide advice to clinicians in hospital and primary care, originating either from telephone calls or ward referrals.
The appointee will be required to maintain his/her private residence in contact with the public telephone service.
Travelling between Hospital/Clinic sites may be required to undertake duties.
In exceptional circumstances it may also be necessary to undertake duties at other locations with the Health Board.
