Job summary

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is looking for exceptional, ambitious senior leaders to take up this unique opportunity to establish a truly integrated system for the wellbeing of our communities and population.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Corporate Services and Governance / Board Secretary to join our leadership team. This role comes at an exciting time in the development of our quality improvement programme, and offers a wide range of opportunities to contribute to the development and delivery of our ambitious plans. Bringing together the Board Secretariat and Corporate Governance, functions, you will possess the skills and experience to contribute to and fully engage with the Health Board's strategic direction. You will help enable us to deliver strategic objectives, develop a reputation of success, and ensure active engagement across our community.

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is part of the NHS Wales family. Our Health Board provides primary, secondary, and community health and wellbeing services to around 450,000 people living in three County Boroughs: Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, and Rhondda Cynon Taf.

  • A very successful track record of leadership and strategic management at Board level, in a complex NHS, public or commercial organisation.
  • Significant experience of leading commissioning processes including population needs assessment; prioritisation planning, contracting and performance management of delivery of large scale service components
  • Experience of effectively managing considerable resources and budgets, with a track record of delivering long term financial sustainability and outstanding value for money
  • Experience of undertaking sensitive negotiations and managing contracts to maximise the benefits and outcomes for an organisation
  • High degree of political sensitivity and experience of dealing with a range of complex issues within a political or demanding stakeholder environment
