THIS ROLE IS TO START ASAP FOR 6 MONTHS WITH POSSIBLE EXTENSION
We are delighted to be able to advertise a new post in the Emergency Department at PCH: US Senior Clinical Fellow in the Emergency Medicine at PCH. This will be for 6 months with possible extension. The Job will be a 30/70 split. 30 % of the job plan will be learning to US mentored by Consultants and Associate specialist with keen interest in Point of Care Emergency Medicine Ultrasound. We will be expecting you to attend the following 3 US courses: FICE, Level One US and Chest Ultrasound. These will be funded by the trust. Currently we are using 4 ultrasound machines a Sonosite PX, two G&E Venue Go's and a Philips Sparq. The remainder 70% will be on a senior clinical fellow rota in the Emergency Department.
Overall our department has been leading on wellbeing of doctors working in the Emergency Department. This is reflected in our current rotas and copies to potential applicants can be provided by contacting one of the consultants below.

Main duties of the job
CTMUHB would like to invite applications for the Senior Clinical fellow post Emergency Medicine, with a speciality interest in US. The post will be based in Prince Charles Hospital. We envisage the split for this post at 70% Emergency Medicine on the registrar Rota and 30% in US training and learning.
The Post: US 30%
The successful post holder will work on the senior tier rota (This is the Registrar Rota) with 30% of their time spent in US. The working pattern of Emergency Medicine
The post is designed for individuals who would like to gain experience in Emergency Medicine on the registrar rota with 30% of the Rota improving their US skills. The post is for 6 months with possible extension. The rota is a full shift rota which has been designed with wellbeing as the priority. You will be expected to work a rota including nights and weekends. The responsibilities of the include the following:
- Contribute to the Emergency service at Prince Charles Hospital
- Participate in the initial assessment, treatment, referral and disposition of patients attending the Emergency Department, with an emphasis on paediatric emergency medicine.
- Support the Nursing staff and Junior Doctors in the Emergency department.
- Liaise with other members of the clinical team and other specialties
- Work a shift pattern including nights and weekends.
- To participate in clinical audit and activities
Supervision Arrangements in the Emergency Medicine
The post holder will be supervised on a day-to-day basis by consultant presence 8am to 20:00 weekdays and 8am to 22:00 at weekends and on bank holidays, out of hours there will be a Middle-Tier Doctor on the shop floor and also an on-call consultant available for telephone advice and to attend the department if required, e.g. major trauma.
