About us

We are an established dispensing practice situated in the idyllic harbour village of Solva on the beautiful coastline of Pembrokeshire. Our list size is approximately 2500 patients. Very many live in Solva itself, but the Practice area includes Mathry, Croesgoch, Roch and Hayscastle. Our nearest neighbouring Practice is in St Davids, 3 miles away. We have a good relationship with the team there and there is minimal migration of patients between the Practices. The two practices are working increasingly collaboratively (i.e. cross cover between the practices from 6pm – 6.30pm)Solva Surgery is a holistic family practice – Friendly, caring & compassionate. Employment in the Solva area is mainly in agriculture, tourism and the public sector.A minority of the team are fluent Welsh speakers and there is no requirement to speak Welsh to work in the Practice. We are GMS contract holders with Hywel Dda University Health Board and are one of the four coastal Practices in the Northern Locality (others being St Davids, Fishguard and Newport/Crymych). We are working towards closer working within our Locality supported by Cluster working and increased MDT working across the patch with Community and Social teams. To support sustainability and the small Practice ethos, we are enthusiastic for greater integration and networking. For the past few years, the Practice has taken in Year 3 and 4 medical student placements for Swansea University in collaboration with St Davids Surgery.
