Job summary

Hywel Dda UHB has an exciting opportunity to join our developing Cancer Therapies Service which supports patients in preparation for, during and for rehabilitation following cancer treatment. We are seeking an experienced Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner to support the delivery of an innovative virtual cancer therapies service.

Hywel Dda UHB's "Prehab through to Rehab" programme supports people throughout their cancer treatments by enhancing patients clinical, functional and wellbeing outcomes, as well as improving patient experience.

Main duties of the job

Working as a multi-disciplinary team, the successful candidate will be expected to work as an integral part of the Cancer Therapies Service providing high quality, evidence based, person centred care to people virtually across Hywel Dda.

Applications are invited from individuals with demonstrable experience in working with people with cancer. They should be interested in working as part of a MDT therapy service, which actively supports professional development and is committed to excellent patient care and service improvement.

About us

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.

We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

  • Has a significant knowledge and experience of the model of physiotherapy and able to support therapeutic intervention with arms length supervision. i.e. lone working
  • Broad range of experience as a support worker in therapy service or associated field
  • Basic I.T. Skill

  • IT knowledge of data collection systems
  • Professional, technical or academic qualification which relates to clinical practice up to 180 credits level 4

  • Demonstrates developed manual handling and manipulation skills to help restore patients functional ability
  • Demonstrates developed visual acuity and perceptual skills
  • The ability to work unsupervised in a variety of settings, taking responsibility for a delegated workload
  • Working knowledge of specialist therapeutic equipment appropriate to clinical specialty
