Job summary

We are looking for motivated and dynamic Nursing Support Workers to join our dedicated team on Teifi Ward, Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen.

Teifi Ward is a busy Trauma and Orthopaedic environment, caring for patients with a wide range of acute injuries and post-operative needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about delivering high-quality, compassionate care and who thrive in a fast-paced clinical setting. The successful candidates will work closely with registered nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to support the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred care.

You will play a key role in maintaining patient dignity, promoting independence, and ensuring a positive patient experience throughout their hospital stay.

We are looking for individuals with excellent communication skills, a caring and professional attitude, and a willingness to learn and develop within the role.

Previous healthcare experience is desirable but not essential, as full training and support will be provided. In return, you will be supported by an experienced and approachable team, with opportunities for ongoing learning, development, and progression within the NHS.

Main duties of the job

There is an opportunity to learn new skills and gain further experience in caring for acutely unwell patients while developing professionally within a positive and challenging environment.This role will require you to undertake delegated clinical observations and to communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will be involved in a range of essential patient care activities, including assisting with personal care, supporting patients with mobility and rehabilitation, monitoring and recording vital signs, and contributing to pressure area care and falls prevention strategies.

You will also support patients with nutrition and hydration, maintain a safe and clean clinical environment, and ensure accurate documentation of care provided.

You will be expected to work collaboratively with registered nurses, doctors, and therapy teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care, while promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing at all times.

This unit operates a variety of shift patterns to meet service requirements, including day and night rotations.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

  • Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW)
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Experience
