Lead Practice Educator in Critical Care

Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic nursing professional to provide strategic leadership and operational management for the Critical Care Education Team across Hywel Dda University Health Board. This pivotal role ensures the delivery of high-quality education, robust clinical support, and the ongoing professional development of critical care nurses and pre-registration learners.

This is a Monday - Friday position with no bank holidays, nights or weekends.

Main duties of the job

Provide Professional Leadership and Management

  • Lead and manage the Critical Care Education Team, offering clear professional leadership to clinical practice educators and nursing staff.
  • Ensure the highest standards of professional nursing care and educational support across all critical care areas.

Develop and Deliver the Education Strategy

  • Work in collaboration with Senior Nurse Managers to design and implement a forward-thinking critical care education strategy.
  • Align educational priorities with Health Board and national objectives, ensuring appropriate resources, governance, and support for nursing education.

Coordinate Education, Training, and Compliance

  • Oversee education programmes, skills development pathways, and competency frameworks for critical care nurses and students.
  • Ensure systems are in place to demonstrate full compliance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and mandatory training.

Champion Clinical Excellence and Innovation

  • Act as a clinical expert within critical care, contributing to the development of guidelines, protocols, and evidence-based practice.
  • Lead or support new clinical initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous learning, quality improvement, innovation, and professional accountability

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.
