Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join a well-established community team based in Pembrokeshire. Occasionally, there will be an expectation for the successful candidate to support children and their families in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion too.The successful candidate will have experience of supporting and working with children who present with Speech, Language and Communication needs.

We are looking for an individual who demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and organisational skills, with a passion for delivering high standards of care, working in the heart of the community. You will work as part of a well-established team of therapists, assistants and multi-agency colleagues.

Main duties of the job

You will be supported by a team of Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapists and have the opportunity to be part of shaping and developing the service, as well as providing supervision to junior colleagues.

The caseload will comprise of children with a range of Speech Language and Communication Needs, working across a range of settings.

You will be responsible for managing your own caseload providing assessment, intervention, advice and training as required. An ability to develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders is essential.

You will also be required to liaise closely with parents, education staff and other health professionals to ensure strategies and approaches can be embedded both at home and in school.

The development of leadership skills in all posts is actively promoted within the Hywel Dda Speech and Language Therapy Service.

This role will include the opportunity to develop your own knowledge and skills whilst also being involved in service wide developments. The post holder will receive support from a range of colleagues including Highly Specialist SLTs who lead on DLD, SSD and AAC, alongside access to regular supervision, a supportive network of other SLTs and CPD activities.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.
