Job summary

Cleddau/SAU Surgical SDEC are looking for a HCSW to become part of our team. You will play a vital role in the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care within a busy Surgical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit and high-turnover surgical ward. Working as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), the post holder supports registered nurses and clinicians in the assessment, treatment and ongoing care of surgical patients requiring rapid intervention, investigation or short-stay admission.

The role requires excellent organisational skills, adaptability and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent admissions, transfers and discharges. The post holder will contribute to maintaining patient flow, supporting timely care and promoting a positive patient experience.

Main duties of the job

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW).
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
